It’s simple: cannibalize it, just take the display and build a portable SuperNintendo. The prototype was in a metal case with integrated lead batteries and weighed a few tons. It worked great, it was amazing work.

That’s why I redesigned the part: plastic housing, a separate slot for the games (an infinite amount of soldering work), illuminated shoulder buttons (thanks to mad The buttons were first installed with the original controller board, but this had different printing properties for all buttons, as the distance cannot be perfectly achieved with hot glue.
I recreated the whole thing on a breadboard with microswitches which were much easier to install here. The control pad, however, works with the original rubber-carbon contacts.
The part still works like on the first day and it’s always fun to play with it in bed!
